Today is Jason's birthday. Which makes him as old as me again (kind of).

One of my favorite things about the first year of marriage.. that I can talk about on a public blog... ha.. is that every birthday, holiday, anniversary is the first married one you get to celebrate together!

It's our 1st married birthday... but the 12th birthday we've celebrated. From the 12th birthday party at the rec center in Tellico, where we played basketball and flirted and threw cake in his face, the 14th birthday where we kissed over moving boxes and pizza.. and accidentally in front of Nancy, those high school birthdays where I sat back and pined from a distance, and the 18th birthday where I gave him the birthday letter that Andie read at our rehearsal dinner. College birthdays where we ate Rotel and watched movies in his dorm. To the glorious birthdays of our first year of dating, first year of being engaged, and first weekend in Pooler house hunting. But my favorite birthday so far is the birthday I got to wake up next to the man I've loved since he was a boy.

First birthday where I watched him brush his teeth, and shave his face. First birthday where I cook him dinner and birthday strawberry shortcake. First birthday where I get him to myself and we celebrate properly!

To my freakin' awesome husband, Happy Birthday! I loved growing up with you and I am going to love growing old with you!

Live.

You know the Greeks didn't write obituaries, they only asked one question after a man died, "Did he have passion?"

We have deep depth. - Yogi Berra

The last few summers we spent in Tennessee one of my favorite things to do was run the golf course at sunset. Right after dinner I would set off on the hilly course and run along the water. The feel of a July heat giving way to a summer night is my favorite running partner. I would run the course until it reached the yacht club and then turn around and head back to Jason's house, where the highlight of the run awaited. The finaly twenty yards of my runs were a bit hectic as I would shed shoes (and socks in the off chance that I wore any) and sprinted at full speed off the end of the dock into the dark water. There is absolutely no better way to finish a run than to sink into warm water and stretch burning limbs.

I was randomly reminded of this sensation last Friday night. Jason and I love Friday nights. The week is over and we have 72 hours of uninterrupted time together. We try to spend our Friday evenings with take out and a Red Box. This past Friday we watched Grown Ups and we loved it! It was hilarious with an underlying moral. Toward the end of the movie one of the characters says, "In life the first act is always exciting, but it is the second act- that's where the depth is." Jason looked at me and said, "I enjoyed the excitement of our relationship, but I love the depth of our marriage."

You see, that's where we are; happily drowning in the depth of marriage. We have settled into our roles. We have settled into one anotehr. And it is as comforting as warm July water after a long, long run.

Bandwagon Boarded.

I have never liked to board the bandwagon... no that's no quite right, I am always the last to jump on the bandwagon. Harry Potter came out when I was 11. I just started and finished the series. Facebook. I survived a year of college without it and now I'm an addict. Pokemon.. ok seriously, never boarded that train. (Travis did though!)

And that brings us to this blog. I have tried blogging once. I posted twice. Fail. Then Andie and I swore we would never blog, and just like the time we swore we would never read Twilight she jumped on board and I couldn't resist any longer.

Seriously though, Jason and I miss our Tennessee family and we want to keep ya'll updated on what God is doing in our family because He has been so good to us.

So for lack of a good quote about bandwagons I leave you with this: We don't usually pick up hitch hikers... but I'm gonna go with my instincts on this one. Saddle up partner!
